The waste would be processed in Tennessee, then shipped on over to Utah, where it would be buried in the desert. Given that Yucca Mountain is such a

controversial issue, it’s surprising that this plan—which the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission says it won’t halt—isn’t more hotly debated. Can this caravan of nuclear waste be stopped?…

    What sort of waste? Spent fuel rods? Low level medical waste? High level waste? Article doesn’t say. Picture is no help. I don’t assume the worst, but when the article leaves out very relevant information of this kind, I tend to think that the main object is column inches.

    While not ideal, it is better to know who has this waste and where it is. Do you really want nuclear waste in the wrong hands? No of course not. Why the Italians cannot finds space is another question, but they may simply be an issue of population density. I really don’t think this is something that we need to fret over so much.
