Eco Gadgets: Sprint debuts ecofriendly phone accessories, green-themed website

Eco Factor: Solar-powered charger and recycled plastic bottle cases launched by Sprint. Commencing green initiatives is nothing new for Sprint as the company has been working on various cellphone recycling endeavors since 2001. Sprint claims that the company’s recycling programs have diverted more than 16 million cellphones from reaching the landfills for recycling. The company is now escalating its green efforts by launching SOLIO Mono Hybrid Charger that lets cellphone owners charge their devices using stored solar energy. The SOLIO charger includes a lithium-ion battery that can

be recharged via USB, AC wall socket or solar energy when the owner is on a move. Other than the $59.99 SOLIO charger the company has also launched two new cellphone carrying cases that are made from 100% recycled plastic water bottles. Sprint has also launched a green-themed website in order to educate the masses on Sprint’s green mobile applications and help customers learn about their sustainability initiatives. Via: Ecoustics
