Ambrosia: Green luxury yacht takes center stage at Hainan Rendezvous
Ambrosia: Green luxury yacht takes center stage at Hainan Rendezvous

Attitude: Designed by Yachting Partners International and first unveiled some time back, Ambrosia has been hit the moment it was first made public. This ultra-luxury yacht is one-of-a-kind on the planet and has been a marquee design when it comes to going green on waves with style and panache. Ambrosia once again was under the spotlight at Hainan Rendez-Vous annual extravaganza and it has wooed many more not just with its form, but also functionality. Launched by the famous Benetti yard in Viareggio, Italy Ambriso has an exterior designed by Espen Oino, while the lavish interiors were crafted by French designer François Zuretti. Ambrosia is an amalgamation between style and sensibility with its technically advanced engineering and green propulsion system that is a trendsetter. The diesel-electric Azipod propulsion system inside Ambrosia allows the yacht to cruise along at its top speed of 16 knots without depending entirely on fossil fuel. The electric engine allows it to cut down on carbon emissions to a very large extent while even the excessive noise is reduced due to lesser dependence on gasoline. This combination of unmatched comfort and eco-friendly features ensures that few yachts on the planet can come close to Ambrosia as a green yacht filled with opulence. If not the pomp, we sure hope others get inspired by it enough to follow in the path of electric propulsion. Via: Super Yacht Times

Amazing Mechanical Seagull Rivals the Real Thing (Video)

It’s a bird… It’s a plane… Wait, it’s both Mankind has long been fascinated with the idea of soaring through the sky like a bird, though oddly enough, many of the early flying contraptions were so bizarre as to seem plucked from thin air — even though nature had conquered that realm eons earlier. Eventually, of course, we figured out how to achieve sustained flight, though achieving sustainable flight has been an entirely new challenge. One engineering firm, however, seems to have made a real breakthrough in efficient aviation — by mimicking a design that had been over our noses the whole time…. Read the full story on TreeHugger

Philips AmbientLED 12.5 Watts LED Lightbulb (Product Review)

Photo: Michael Graham Richard A Bulb from the Future! It Looks Like it Belongs on a Spaceship The Philips AmbientLED 12.5-watt A19 LED lightbulb (quite a name!) is probably the favorite LED bulb that I’ve tried so far. It beats the competition when it comes to light output (800 lumens vs. 450-590 lumens for the other LEDs that I’ve tried), the design of the bulb is very innovative, and light quality is excellent. Read on for my full review and more technical specs on the Philips AmbientLED…. Read the full story on TreeHugger
